Exercise 1 of 2 · About 20 minutes

Untangle

See how much of the business runs through you, and pick the first line to straighten.

  1. Start with you. Write your name in the circle.
  2. Draw a line to everything. One line out to every job, tool and person the business runs on: the bookings, the quotes, the van, the accounts, the office WhatsApp, the computer only one person knows how to fix. Write what it is at the end of the line.
  3. Count the lines that run through you. Write the number in the first box.
  4. Circle the ones that only work because you’re there. If you went on holiday, these would stop. Count them into the second box.
  5. Straighten one line. Pick one you circled. Give it an owner who isn’t you, and a place where it’s written down.
